2012 TSR Rankings: The Year's Best in Fan Fashion & Style

You might have heard of the BCS Rankings, but those won't mean much come 2014, so here's a brand new list to dissect and debate: The 2012 TSR Rankings. This one has nothing to do with teams or records; it's all about the best in fan fashion and style in 2012. If you've been reading The Style Ref this year, you can probably guess a few favorites that made the list, but don't let that spoil the fun! In the spirit of New Year's Eve, let's take a look back at the big winners of 2012 as we look forward to 2013...

4. Go Team USA

Do you think the 2012 TSR Rankings got it right?

Rulebook: Vintage is Always In

Rule #5: History matters in sports and vintage fanwear takes it out of the record books and into our closets. For sports fans, old becomes new again with throwback cuts and designs that remind us of the past. However, just because it looks old doesn't mean it's vintage, so it's important to choose items that look authentic and stylish. TSR has you covered with some no-fail, high-quality vintage picks for fans who know that no matter what decade it is, team loyalty is always in fashion.

New York Jets Vintage Collection Reebok Snapback Hat Cap

Hartford Whalers Mitchell & Ness Vintage Duffle Bag

Remember the Good Times

If you're a New England Patriots fan, chances are you felt a huge lump of disappointment after the Super Bowl (or maybe it was those nachos you devoured during halftime). At any rate, you're probably still reminiscing over the season and all the great moments that led to that point, wondering how things went so wrong. These moments happen every year in the magical, painful world of sports and no matter what happens, we'll always remember the good times because that's what fuels our hopes and dreams for next season.

Luckily, BustedTees.com has designed a line of shirts that keeps those fond memories close to our hearts. The "Loyalist" is a new line of nostalgic sports tees with references to former greats like Larry Bird, Wayne Gretzky and Muhammad Ali. They even created limited edition Super Bowl shirts for proud Patriots and Giants fans. Here's a quick look at the "Loyalist" line:

For the loyal Giants fan

For the loyal Patriots fan

Loyalty is important to sports fans, so TSR has teamed up with BustedTees.com to give two, lucky readers a shirt that shows where their loyalty lies. Here's what you have to do to win:

TSR and BustedTees.com will give away a shirt of choice from the "Loyalist" line to two readers who: 1) "Like" both our Facebook pages (which you can do below in just two clicks!) and tell us who your favorite sports hero/great is in a comment on this post. The deadline to enter is Sunday, Feb. 12. TSR will randomly select two winners and notify them via Facebook. Please include your first and last name, so TSR can find you!

Ladies (and Gentlemen), this could be a great post-Valentine's gift for the sports fan in your life. Good luck!

Home Field Advantage: A Piece of History

The Super Bowl is days away and the sweet smell of football season is still in the air. This time each year, as we look forward to crowning a new national champion, we also reminisce about the past and all the great memories we share as fans. The NFL has come a long way since its inception in 1920 and so have its teams, many of which have undergone significant identity changes. For the nostalgic fan, take a trip down memory lane with some items featuring historical football teams and remember the way they were:

Boston Patriots Pennant

Chicago Cardinals Charley Trippi 8x10 Autographed Photograph

Houston Oilers - 48 Yard Line vs. Chicago Bears Panoramic Photograph

Dallas Texans Authentic Pro Line Riddell Throwback Full Size Helmet

Baltimore Colts: "Colts 1958" Framed Giclee

Super Bowl VXIII (1984): LA Raiders vs. Redskins Program Print

Fans of any age can appreciate the history behind teams like the Houston Oilers, Baltimore Colts, the Chicago Cardinals and the Boston Patriots as many of them are still around today, but now have a different mascot and/or hail from a different city. Pay tribute to your favorite team by adding a piece of history to your collection!

Do you have any of your team's memorabilia on display at home?
