2016 World Series Style
One day I was scrolling through social media and stumbled upon one of my new favorite blogs, Sharp Dressed Fan. Kirsten is the fashionable eye behind the site and as a devoted baseball fan, she puts together truly eye-catching team outfits that include unique pieces from local designers right in the team's hometown! Of course, I had to ask her to chime in with her picks for the historic 2016 World Series featuring the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians. These outfits have me rooting for both teams! It's the most wonderful time of the year for baseball fans - the World Series has begun! This postseason brings about a historical match-up between two favorite underdog teams, the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs. As neither club has won the big game since the 1940s, both teams are chomping at the bit for the chance to be champions! I've assembled looks for Indians and Cubbies fans, complete with locally-made pieces, to ensure they'll be styled for the win.
This Indians pairing dresses up a simple team sweatshirt with leather trimmed pants and of course, a cute and practical anorak in the team's color navy. Rather than the popular Chief Wahoo cap, I avoided the controversial mascot and instead, included a piece by a Native American artist from Beyond Buckskin. The boots are also reminiscent of a tribal blanket and are stadium-friendly with a thick, stacked heel. A lovely, origami-style clutch and red earrings finish off this look with some great accessories made by Cleveland locals.
For the Cubs, I started off with some sparkle, choosing a glittery team top and layering it with a fun, versatile royal blue jacket. To keep warm at Wrigley, I added in some skinny corduroys and found a matching scarf made by a Chicago local. Luckily, the same can be said for the fabulous tassle necklace, ring and red bag as well - the Windy City is bursting with some talented designers! To complete this look, I hunted down a pair of strappy flats (so popular this season!) in Cubbies blue. No stilettos for games, ladies! Let's keep it real... and comfy!

Ballpark food + gorgeous weather = take me out to the ballgame! Baseball season returns April 3, so if it snuck up on you and came out of left field (pun intended!), I want to help you cover your bases (I did it again!). Here are some essential items every fashionable MLB fan needs on gameday.
1. Smashbox Art. Love. Color. Lips Set - I bought this set as a Christmas present to myself and it's the gift that keeps on giving. Not only is it a steal at $20, the quality and range of the lip glosses far exceeded my expectations. It's long-lasting, wearable and light, perfect for a long day at the ballpark.

Fan Find: Team Nutcrackers
Nutcrackers are a traditional symbol of Christmas and although they have an obvious functional purpose (cracking open nuts), they're more widely used for decoration. These wood figurines can be very striking and elaborate, and they come in a variety of themes from cowboys to chefs to forest rangers. Of course, they also come outfitted for almost every sports team, so how fun would it be to create a Nutcracker display featuring a few of your favorite teams? That sounds like the makings of a very Merry Christmas to me!

In honor of Veterans Day, I decided to take a closer look at a military fashion staple that often gets a bad wrap — camouflage. Contrary to popular belief, this print can be chic, but the key is it must be worn in moderation. That means a little goes a long way, so limit yourself to one piece when incorporating camo into your gameday outfit. Think of it as an accessory rather than the centerpiece.

The Style Ref's Wedding Series: Team Garters
Custom calls for the bride to wear a garter on her wedding day, which the groom removes toward the end of the reception and tosses to unmarried male guests. The man who catches the garter may then place it on the leg of the woman who catches the bride's bouquet. According to superstition, these two will be next to get married, though not necessarily to each other!
Spring Cleaning is Easy as Cubeit, Storeit, Stackit
It's time for spring cleaning, so why not get organized with a little help from your favorite baseball and college teams?! If you haven't heard of Cubeits, Stackits and Storeits, they work exactly how they sound. Cubeits come in various configurations with three, six or nine square compartments. Stackits, which are covered boxes, and Storeits, which are uncovered boxes, are then inserted into the Cubeit's compartments like drawers.
